Time can be cruel to a once thick head of hair. As we age, many will experience hair loss. If this is something you just cannot accept, there are options for solutions. Due to lack of demand High Valley Dermatology is not offering hair transplantation services at this time.
What is a Hair Transplant?
A hair transplant is a surgical operation that involves removing a strip of scalp from the backside of the head. The doctor then divides that strip into small sections that only have about 1-3 hairs each. These small pieces of scalp with hair are then put on to the bald sections of your head.
The doctor will use a needle or similar tool to make small holes in the bald section of your head. He will then put the small scalp pieces with hair, one piece per hole, into the newly created holes on the bald spots.
After the new sections of hair have been inserted into your scalp, they are guaranteed to fall out later. This is the normal process of a hair transplantation. After the next 3 months or so you should start to see hair starting to grow on its own in those new spots. Often, doctors will recommend you double your chances of success by using Rogaine after your scalp has healed.
This is a surgical operation which requires a fair amount of recovery time. You should be able to return to work or your daily norm after 3-5 days. There may be some complications that arise such as swelling and pain, but your doctor will prescribe you the medication you need and teach you some home remedies for the swelling.
