Meet The High Valley Dermatology Providers Behind Your Care

Since 1996, the High Valley Dermatology providers have built one of Southeast Idaho’s most credentialed dermatology teams: 4 board-certified physicians, 4 physician assistants, and 3 aesthetics specialists, seeing patients in Idaho Falls, Rigby, and Alpine, Wyoming. Two of the physicians, Dr. Lindsay Sewell and Dr. Brandon Miner, are fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeons, the highest level of training available for skin cancer removal. Whether you’re booking a routine skin check or a cosmetic procedure, here’s exactly who you’ll be sitting across from.

Who Are High Valley Dermatology's Board-Certified Dermatologists?

Dr. Lindsay D. Sewell: Fellowship-Trained Mohs Surgeon

Dr. Sewell Dermatologist Idaho Falls

Skin cancer treatment is Dr. Sewell’s focus, and his training reflects it. After a dermatology residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania, he completed a fellowship there in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology, then earned fellow status with both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS). In 2021, he became the only board-certified dermatologist practicing Micrographic Dermatology Surgery in Southeast Idaho at that time. He sees patients across the full range of skin conditions, but Mohs surgery is where his training runs deepest.

Dr. Brandon L. Miner: The Practice's Second Mohs Surgeon

A native of Ammon, Idaho, Dr. Miner completed his dermatology residency in affiliation with Michigan State University before traveling to Chicago for a full fellowship in Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgery. That fellowship is what puts him alongside Dr. Sewell as 1 of 2 ACMS-approved, fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons on the High Valley Dermatology team, a pairing few practices in the region can match.

Dr. Lena E. Gowring: 10 Years In Air Force Medicine Before Dermatology

Before treating skin, Dr. Gowring treated aircrews. She served 10 years of active duty in the United States Air Force, including deployments supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, before completing her dermatology residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, where she served as chief resident. She joined High Valley Dermatology in 2018 and is a fellow of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, practicing medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Stetson R. Albertson: Idaho Roots, Board-Certified Care

Dr. Stetson Albertson

Dr. Albertson grew up in Idaho and returned to practice here after completing medical school at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, and a residency with Beaumont Health in affiliation with Michigan State University in 2021. He’s board certified and treats patients across Southeast Idaho and the surrounding region.

Why Do High Valley Dermatology Providers Make A Difference?

Training gaps show up most clearly in skin cancer surgery. An ACMS-approved Mohs fellowship requires significantly more hands-on surgical training than a general dermatology residency alone, which is exactly why having 2 fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons on staff matters for anyone facing a skin cancer diagnosis. That same principle holds on a smaller scale for general and cosmetic dermatology: providers who have treated thousands of cases of acne, psoriasis, or rosacea catch patterns a less experienced provider might miss.

This same team staffs all 4 High Valley Dermatology offices in Idaho Falls, Rigby, and Alpine, Wyoming, so the level of care doesn’t change based on which location is closest to you.
